“A Life Lived with Grace and Grit” For My Mother — The Heart That Taught Me (The Hart) Strength

When I think about strength, I see my mother’s face. This beautiful woman — gentle, graceful, and fierce in her quiet way — spent nearly forty years facing cancer. Not just surviving it, but living through it with courage that humbled everyone around her, right to her last breath.

Her story isn’t one of illness. It’s one of resilience, faith, and endless love. Through surgeries, treatments, and setbacks, she never lost her warmth or her sense of humor. She taught me that even in pain, there is beauty — and that the true measure of a life isn’t in how long we live, but in how deeply we love.

When she smiled, it lit up rooms. When she spoke, her words carried wisdom. And when she finally had to rest, she left behind a legacy of strength that continues to guide me every day.

This blog — Where the Hart Leads — begins with her. Because she is where my story begins. Every word I write, every journey I take, every act of courage I find in myself — all of it comes from her.

Mom, thank you for showing me how to fight, how to love, and how to lead with heart.
This one’s for you. 💗
